Summa Baddie - My 30/30 Fitness Challenge

Ok ladies I am joining the fitness Friday link up with KLP, Ebony and Britt.

It’s that time of the year again when most of us are giddy at the opportunity to sport tank stops, pum-pum shorts (barely there pants), bikinis and sandals. I for one do not like clothes. I mean I love fashion and all it entails. But when it’s comes to the summer heat especially here in South Florida I really live by the mantra that “less is more”.

In March I partook in a 30/30 prayer challenge hosted by my beloved Joyce Meyer and I was successful. Even to this day I still carve out 30 minutes to chit chat with my God.  The idea is that if you perform a task consistently for 30 days eventually it will become habit forming, so my plan is to work out for 30 minutes for the next 30 days.  I realize that a work out here and there is not going to cut it anymore. I’ve been making excuses about being busy and tired but then it dawned on me that when I worked out consistently even if it’s just for 30 minutes I had enough energy for myself and about two Sumo wrestlers.  Initially I said I was going to start fresh on June 1st but why put off for tomorrow what can be done today. So this morning I had my first work out and I feel GRRRREEATTTTTTTTTTT!

Objective: To sculpt and tone my body. Since giving birth my core has not been as strong as it once was. I used to have that lower V cut in my lower abs and a 4 pack and I want it back. This is not about me losing weight. I don’t even know how much I weigh. I love my curves and I do not want to lose them so whenever I work out I never over do the cardio. I’ve also been struggling to get out of bed in the mornings. I need my energy levels to shoot through the roof again.

I’m a girl in a mission and here is my plan:

·         Get it over and done with early. I love early morning work outs the best. I find that when I work out in the evenings I’m too hyped and I have trouble falling asleep (I will however do evening work outs on nights I plan to stay up and review for exams). Plus my A.M work outs fuel my energy throughout the day.
·         I will be using primarily Jillian Michaels Killer Abs. I used her Ripped in 30 DVD to get my post pregnancy body back and I heart her kick ass attitude. Although it’s called Killer Abs this DVD works a lot of muscle groups not just abs.
·         I will also be using Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack abs – I love the intensity in this one. It’s heavy on the plank which is my fav exercise to whip my abs and core into shape expeditiously. Again it works multiple muscle groups but with a deeper focus on abs. I’ve been calling her all kinds of names in this one. lol
·         Butt Bible – I love my Heavy-T bumper but I want it just about ½ - 1  inch lifted and more toned. This is a kick azz work out that targets all the Gluteus’es (I totally made this up) and defines the legs because it’s very heavy on squats and lunges.
·         I also found two works out I pinned off Pinterest – I seek obliques and Ab-sanity.
·         Monday Yoga classes. It’s great to meditate and have that woosah moment when you’re working out often. As well as my community is now offering free Zumba classes on Thursdays. This is going to be aVERY enjoyable challenge (doesn’t even sound like a challenge right?) wink wink.

If  I find anything else out there that tickles my fancy I will throw it in the mix because I love a new challenge and it’s always good to mix things up to prevent a plateau.

Of course no fitness journey is complete without its complementary partner Diet. I will post on that in another post. This is a pic I took this morning after my 30 min session.

  1. #woot! I love your plan! For without a plan, we plan to fail! I have the JM Ripped in 30 DVD but I don't use it much. She does too many planks and my po' wrists can't handle it!

Buena suerte---you can totally do it!
